In both psychiatry and psychological research, I am constantly struck by the fact that the complexity of psychology and behavior has been used as cover for avoiding more rigorous, standardized methods like the one you suggested. Agreed, it is not perfect. But a baseline description of personality and other relevant factors for pattern recognition and suggested treatment would be useful. Particularly for more subtle and long term mental health issues that do not result in a battery of tests.
